SingFit PRIME
Frequently Asked Questions
SingFit PRIME is an interactive group-singing program for older adults that incorporates hit songs, movement and reminiscence for a fully engaging mind/body workout in small groups.
SingFit PRIME (SFP) program includes:
A music app with hundreds of hit songs from the 1920s - 1970s that can be downloaded onto an iOS or android tablet
Speakers
A new set of 12 playlists and their corresponding scripted booklets each quarter
Props (e.g., eggs, scarves) to augment movement/exercise
2-hours of online training
The program, which is based on common music therapy practices and literature, was designed so in-house staff at senior living communities could facilitate therapeutic music programming on a regular basis. They do not need to rely on a music therapist or music performer to provide positive group music interventions to the residents.

SingFit PRIME is a highly engaging program that can help improve the overall cognitive, physical and emotional health of older adults. SingFit PRIME is easy to use AND effective even into the mid-to-later stages of dementia, when very few other interventions succeed.
The majority of our end users are people with MCI to mid stage dementia. That said, our customers are activity directors and other care professionals at senior living communities, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals and adult day programs across the US. These senior care professionals have one of the world’s hardest jobs: engaging with and improving the life of someone at all levels of cognitive decline/dementia, when little else, including the sight or sound of a loved one, can break through the cognitive fog.
SingFit is not like karaoke, a sing-along, a performer, or any other music program that you’ve used in the past. It not only leverages the power of singing, but also includes scripted booklets with age-appropriate trivia, guided movements, and self-disclosure questions. By getting the residents to consistently sing, answer questions and accurately move in time with the music, you are delivering one of the best whole-brain workouts available while at the same time, naturally elevating their moods, self esteem, oxygenation and social skills.
Why singing with SingFit is better than karaoke or other sing-alongs:
The SingFit music app contains hundreds of curated songs that have each been re-created to include a lyric coach. The lyric coach is an auditory cue that has been added to each song that tells you the lyrics before you have to sing along.
Unlike karaoke or lyric sheets, which require the ability to read, SingFit’s lyric-coach prompter enables the older adult population, whether they have poor vision (including those who are blind) or dementia, to sing along without reading or remembering the lyrics.
Click here to see a clip from a PRIME session and listen to an example of the lyric coach in the songs When the Saints Go Marching In by Louis Armstrong and New York, New York by Frank Sinatra.
If you have any questions about older adult’s ability to sing at different levels of cognitive decline or impairment, please do not hesitate to reach out. Our music therapists would be more than happy to speak with you: info@singfit.com.
The new quarterly playlists will appear in the PRIME Playlists section of the app under the Featured Playlist Tab.
